Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated the state’s total support for the presidential ambition of the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Bola Tinubu.
Sanwo-Olu made this declaration on Thursday when the Minister of Transportation and APC presidential hopeful, Rotimi Amaechi, visited him in the Marina area of the state ahead of the party’s primary election.
While the governor wished Amaechi well, he described the aspirant as fit to lead the nation.
Sanwo-Olu, however, reiterated his allegiance to Tinubu whose leadership he benefited from. “I have sheer regard and respect for our leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu. I have been a direct beneficiary of his leadership. I have been part of his cabinet,” he clarified.
He also maintained that while he continues to tow that line of leadership and what he stands for, “I want to say to you that you’re eminently qualified and I want to wish you well in this journey”.
According to Sanwo-Olu, for everyone in Lagos State, Asiwaju continues to be “our rallying point”. He noted, however, that the country is “Our country and we must continue to see it as the one that is indivisible and one that we all rally round”.
The governor further commended Amaechi. “I certainly know too well what your pedigree is and what you have done.”
In his reaction, Amaechi said it took a lot of courage to visit Lagos because he recognises Tinubu’s influence on the state.
“It is a difficult thing to even come here because we already know that our leader comes from Lagos state. And you come from that family of our leader.
“We know that our leader is eminently qualified to rule this country. He has led Lagos state,” he admitted.
