Picnic Destinations In Nigeria And Africa

It’s the holiday season again! I always look forward to one. It always affords me time to flex and chill, admire the captivating scenery of nature, take a breath of fresh air in its purest form, stand by the window pane with a cup of sizzling tea and enjoy the bliss that comes with it.

More so, the holiday periods allow you to spend time with family and friends and observe love flow through your veins endlessly. And guess what? You need not break the bank to achieve this.

Insecurity aside, we both know there are places in Nigeria and Africa you can go to and not worry about your safety. What other continent is rich in culture and beauty if not Africa?

In this article, we’ll be highlighting three vacation destinations in Nigeria and three in Africa.

La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort

So generously spacious with a spray of nature’s freshness, La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort sits in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.

It’s a perfect blend of natural ambience, warm African hospitality and modern luxury. The chalets are a unique feature of the resort with a melange of traditional architecture and present day amenities that will make your time unforgettable.

The view is absolutely breathtaking. Watching the sun set upon the ocean is one of the many wonders of the world. You just don’t want to miss this part.

With an African themed forest, the river and beach resort has varying species of plants and animals for your delight. Some of them are; palms, mangroves, epiphytes, monkeys, squirrels, and mudskippers et al.

Obudu Mountain Resort, also known as Obudu Cattle Ranch, is one of Nigeria’s finest and most interesting places that has attracted tourists worldwide.

It is located in the highlands and deep tropical forests of Cross River State with a temperate climate.

For a melange of adventure and reposefulness, it is ideal you visit the ranch and have a first-hand experience. With its rich natural lush vegetation and a picturesque view, it is the flawless place to connect with yourself and yours truly.

So, if you are a lover of nature, then I think you should go on a sightseeing adventure at the Obudu Mountain Resort.

Located at Ikogosi, a town in Ekiti State, southwestern Nigeria, you will be thrilled by the confluence of the cold and warm springs, each retaining its own thermal properties.

There’s a calm feeling that will engulf your being once you get into the water at Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort.

While it is too surreal to be expressed by mere words, you can also hike on the Idanre hills. Who doesn’t wish this?

I just knew Egypt wouldn’t stay off this list. This is one country rich in history dated as far back as time itself.

When it comes to locations for you and your family, what other place if not the Sharm el-Sheikh? Sharm el-Sheikh is an Egyptian resort town between the desert of the Sinai Peninsula and the Red Sea.

Sandwiched by some of the world’s most incredible dive sites, this peninsula is home to glorious beaches with magnificent water species that’ll leave you mesmerised. It is the world’s second most northerly mangrove forest, and saltwater lake.

Diverse marine life and hundreds of Red Sea coral reef sites make Sharm El Sheikh a magnet. Sharm El Sheikh means “Bay of the Sheikh”. It is also known as the “City of Peace; Egyptian Arabic: Madinet Es-Salaam”.

Zanzibar in Tanzania is an epiphany that gives you an experience of a lifetime. If it’s adventure you seek or beautiful beaches, Zanzibar is one place that’ll give you an unforgettable imprint.

The Indian Ocean destination is off of the eastern coast of Africa. On this island, you’ll also find UNESCO world heritage site, the STONE WALL Gorgeous beaches, tranquil atmosphere, rich culture, beautiful sunsets and history.

Some countries are blessed with picturesque views that’ll not only calm your soul but will also improve your state of mind. Victoria Falls will literally leave you speechless.

The Victoria Falls is unbelievably shared by two countries: Zambia to the north and Zimbabwe to the south. That, in itself, is a wonder.

The fall is the world’s widest sheet of cascading water, making it one of the world’s most impressive waterfalls. Other vantage points include the Livingstone Island, Devil’s Pool and Knife-Edge Bridge.

Try to explore the falls. It will help you capture the enthralling masterpiece of nature. And yes remember, it serves as borders to some countries. So, do well to experience the fall from both sides. Trust me they offer distinctive views.
