A lecturer of Gombe State University Dr Abdulrahaman Gona, Thursday, died in Saudi Arabia.
Gona was a lecturer in the department of Islamic Studies. The state Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, constituted him recently as one of the board members to airlift pilgrims to the holy land.
The Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Head of Media, Hauwa Muhammad, on behalf of the executive secretary Sa’adu Adamu, regretted the demise of the Pilgrim.
He revealed that the deceased died after an ailment, and would be buried according to Islamic tenets.
The statement read in part, “The death of Alhaji Dr Abdulrahaman Umar Mai Gona has occurred today in Saudi after a brief illness.
“Gona was a newly appointed Board Member, Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, by the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.”
He added that Board is on its feet in ensuring his timely burial as stipulated in Islam. “May his soul rest in peace.”
