Presidency: One Dead, Two Injured As Gunmen Attack Buhari’s Convoy in Katsina

Gunmen, Tuesday, opened fire on the convoy of President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team convoy of security guards, protocol and media officers while heading for his Sallah trip to Daura in Katsina State.

According to Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, Nigeria’s number one citizen was not in the convoy at the time of the attack.

However, he noted that the security operatives and an advance team heading for Daura, Buhari’s hometown, ahead of Sallah, were attacked near Dutsinma in Katsina.

The bandits gun down the Assistant Police Commissioner in Katsina. Garba continued that the presidency described the incident as sad and unwelcome.

“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy,” he emphasised.

This, however, resulted in the killing of the commissioner and two injured persons, who are receiving treatment for “The minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura”.
